A Doula Is: .
Doula is a Greek word meaning “servant”. A doula supports women in achieving the birth they desire, whether at home, a birth center, or the hospital. She facilitates labor
and birth by providing continuous physical and emotional support. She encourages informed consent for all decisions by offering objective, balanced information, and she respects whatever the family decides. In addition, a doula facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner, and their care provider.
"Thank you again for these classes!! Both of us got a lot out of them, and it made us feel so much more empowered and excited about our upcoming birthing journey. Prior to the classes, I felt on the fence about an un-medicated birth, and my husband was quite frankly against it. I feel like the information and the techniques we learned together really brought our understanding to a whole new level and left us on the same page (although he might be even more passionate about it now!). I would gladly recommend you and your class to any of my friends that are either hoping for an un-medicated birth or on the fence." K.B.
Cathleen was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed having her as our doula. She was very informative and helped us make sure we were making educated decisions at each point in our birth journey. We had twin boys and she went the extra mile to review literature and research related to twin births to better understand our unique circumstances. She was supportive and encouraging during the labor process. We were very happy and thankful we chose to use Cathleen as our doula! Lindsay
She was observant, supportive + nothing short of amazing! Cathleen's breadth + depth of knowledge were crucial in helping me to meet my natural birth goals. Did I mention patience?? 33 hours with a first time mom + dad and all the snippy refusals to advice that includes! She is a super star. Maggie
Cathleen was great! I really appreciate her knowledge, support and presence during my labor and delivery. She did a great job supporting my decisions during my labor, and I always felt she had my best interests in mind. I appreciated how supportive she was of my husband also, and his role in my labor. Finally, I really appreciated how Cathleen worked so well with my doctor and nurses while we were in the hospital. Faith
We want to thank you for being a part of the most special day of our lives. Even though the journey to parenthood wasn't quite what we had expected, having you there as support and encouragement meant so much to us. Thank you for everything. Candice.
"Cathleen was a comfort and stable source to help us prepare for and assist with the birth of our daughter. She is extremely knowledgeable of the labor and delivery process and Bradley Method. Moreover, she is compassionate and can truly relate to each laboring woman's needs. I cannot imagine going through this process without her!" Ginny
